Visitor’s Visa Application

For a visa application to stay in New Zealand longer than three months or if your country is not listed on the visa waiver list you can call your nearest New Zealand Embassy, or download an application form from the New Zealand Immigration Service website.

Visa Exemptions

Visa exemptions apply to you if you are an;

New Zealand citizen.
New Zealand resident permit holder.
Australian citizen travelling with an Australian passport
Australian resident with a current Australian resident return visa
Citizen of a country that has a visa exemption agreement with New Zealand.

Study & Work Visa’s

The New Zealand Immigration Service can help with information and application forms when applying for either a Study Visa or Work Visa.

Visa Waivers

There are more than 50 countries where travellers do not require a Visitor’s Visa. If you are from one of these countries you may aquire a visa waiver as long as you meet the requirements listed below;

The visit is less than three months.
Have a valid passport that is still current after your departure of New Zealand with a minimum of three months.
A ticket either showing another destination (with permission is given to enter that country) or return home.
Have enough money to support you during your stay – approximately NZ$1000 per month per person.

British passport holders and citizens that produce evidence that they live permanently in the United Kingdom may be allowed to stay up to six months in New Zealand.

Immigration

Passports

Visitors to New Zealand must carry a passport that is valid, and remains valid for a minimum of three months upon their departure date.

A lost passport needs to be reported to police, where a police report will be provided to take to your country’s local embassy, or high commission. The arrival card is handed out to passengers before they arrive in New Zealand. This has to be completed and handed in with your passport upon arrival.

International airports based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch house all international flights from all countries. The Hamilton, Palmerston North, Queenstown and Dunedin airports recieve flights from Australia.

A departure tax rate of $25 NZ for international travellers, 12 years and above applies, but Wellington International Airport has a extra charge of $10 NZ for children 2-11 years of age as well.
