Visa WaiversThere are more than 50 countries where travellers do not require a Visitor’s Visa. If you are from one of these countries you may aquire a visa waiver as long as you meet the requirements listed below;
British passport holders and citizens that produce evidence that they
live permanently in the United Kingdom may be allowed to stay up to six
months in New Zealand.

ImmigrationIf you are planning on immigrating, and becoming a resident of New Zealand, you can access forms and guides for residency at the New Zealand Immigration Service Homepage. PassportsVisitors to New Zealand must carry a passport that is valid, and remains valid for a minimum of three months upon their departure date. A lost passport needs to be reported to police, where a police report will be provided to take to your country’s local embassy, or high commission. Arrival CardsThe arrival card is handed out to passengers before they arrive in New Zealand. This has to be completed and handed in with your passport upon arrival. |

International AirportsInternational airports based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch house all international flights from all countries. The Hamilton, Palmerston North, Queenstown and Dunedin airports recieve flights from Australia. |
Agricultural Restriction & QuarantinesNew Zealand takes pride in its efforts to keep our agricultural industries and country free from pests, dangerous animals, and diseases found in other countries. The New Zealand agricultural restrictions and quarantine regulations are strictly enforced to ensure the economy does not suffer, and the country maintains its clean green environment. People caught smuggling prohibited items into New Zealand will be dealt with according to New Zealand law. All quarantines are approved or declined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF). Other Prohibited ItemsThere are a number of other prohibited items that are not allowed to be bought into New Zealand. To bring firearms or weapons into New Zealand, you are required to apply for a permit from the New Zealand Police. New Zealand Customs Service can provide further information about Restricted and Prohibited imports to New Zealand. Duty Free StoresYou will find a duty free store at all International Gateways. Duty free products are not subject to our taxes. Quantity of products available to purchase without having to pay duty, can be found at the local duty free store or you can visit Customs. Departure TaxA departure tax rate of $25 NZ for international travellers, 12 years and above applies, but Wellington International Airport has a extra charge of $10 NZ for children 2-11 years of age as well. New Zealand’s departure tax is not included in your ticket price. |
